How Do I Succeed In Business

Welcome to 5 Lessons For Success In Business

My name is Kieran Perry, best business coach and I am an experienced sales expert and business author. My career has spanned the last 25 years, and in that time I have been responsible for the sales, management, and growth of many multi-million pound businesses across the world.

Including Manufacturing, Logistics, Luxury Brands, Software, and Distribution companies

Nowadays I share my knowledge to help other people to succeed.

So, lets get started on my 5 Lessons For Success In Business.

Number 1.

See it through to the end.

So, what do I mean by that……?

  1. Well, make sure you finish any training programme or induction you have started, and see it through to the end.

It is much easier to get any education done when your younger, and then you will always have it for whatever future path you take.

  1. When taking on any further education or training, embrace the experience offered to you

Go with it and enjoy the opportunity you have for further learning, push yourself to get the best results you can, and be proud of the goal you have in front of you.

  1. Don’t compare yourself to other people and the path that they are taking, focus solely on where you want to go and what you want to achieve.

  1. SET GOALS – spend time thinking about what you want your future to look like, what you aspire to, and what drives you, and consider what it might take to get you there?

  1. Give yourself some options…

Plan your next 5 years out, set out your goals for each year, so that you have manageable steps.

  1. If you agree to do something – do it.

Be realistic on what you can commit to and deliver, and make sure you see your commitment through to the end.

Be bold, don’t be afraid to push yourself when it comes to training, or job challenges as this approach will ensure you grow, gain as much experience as possible as this will then make you more desirable for ongoing jobs and businesses.

Number 2.

How To Learn from Your Business Mistakes

  1. Many celebrities and entrepreneurs are living proof that failure isn’t necessarily a bad thing – as long as you learn from your mistakes. Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX has a 10-year history of blowing up one rocket after another. He constantly questions himself and looks for ways to do things better and push boundaries.

  1. Embrace failure.

Failure is probably one of the least liked words in the English language. But if we spend all our energy getting self-conscious and closing off when we fail at something in life, we won’t be able to bounce back, learn from it and grow.

In life and business, once you learn what causes failure and learn how to recover, you have a recipe for success.

  1. Not every job or role is going to be perfect, and difficulties or failures might shake you up for a bit at first. But instead of thinking that every failure is going to end in disaster you can look at them as learning experiences.

Sometimes, the only way to learn important lessons is by failing.

  1. If things get a little difficult in a job or business don’t give in straight away, ask more of yourself, give it time. If you need help, there is no shame in asking for it, asking for help is not a weakness, recognising you need others to help you will be a strength.

You cannot expect to know everything in a new job or business straightway, gain experience from others.

Number 3.

 How To Value Time

  1. Make sure you make the most of your time and your customers time. Time is money, for yourself, your customers, and the business you work for.

Time management once mastered is the key to any business or individual success. The art is to never rush work, and to always do a good job, within an acceptable time frame -  this requirement can be different for different businesses or challenges.

  1. So, What is Time Management?

It is as simple as turning up when you are asked to, or working out how long you need to do something,

You must respect other people’s time and that they are busy too, so making sure you work efficiently to someone else timeframe is also key.

  1. Time management is also about getting enough done in the day that you are valuable.

Knowing when you need more time spent on something in the working world, is time management, and will come with experience and time served in a job role.

  1. Prioritizing tasks so that you use your working time in the most efficient manner to enable you to get the most critical work done, will move you forward and see you grow in your role or business.

  1. Don’t promise to get 10 jobs done, if you know you only have time for 8, discuss and explain the issues you have so that your colleague or business can plan to help you.

  1. Spending time preparing for whatever the task is, will save you time in the long run, and make you more productive.

Even a simple day thought through beforehand, such as - what you need to take with you, what you will need for those days tasks, where you need to be, and who you will be working for, and any possible problems that could occur.

If this is all thought through beforehand you will equip yourself mentally and also practically for the job ahead.

Number 4.

How To Embrace Change

  1. The world we now live in is constantly changing and evolving, learning to embrace this is the best way to adapt to change.

Making the transition from your training and into work can be challenging, but don’t worry about it, anything new will feel a bit alien when you first start, just give yourself time to adjust to the new situation.

  1. Change can come in many forms from a client changing a date or time, to a company changing your job requirements, to your situation at home changing. Don’t waste time getting angry or frustrated with a situation that has changed, the best people who succeed in life are the ones that can quickly adapt.

Be flexible, people and companies rely on staff that are open minded and positive to new challenges, giving solutions, not problems when change is needed.

  1. Think of the long game, if a customer changes their mind or delays a project – YOU reacting badly to the situation will only affect you and your goals

Think before you act, and place your energy into working out a solution that works for both of you.

  1. ALWAYS Remember who is the customer , who is paying for your service, in realty customers do not want to know about your problems, they are paying you to give them a solution, to theirs.

  1. To grow as an individual, you need to stretch yourself. You might try new foods, change up your routine, or travel somewhere you’ve never been BEFORE . Every one of us goes through difficult situations and you need to be willing to leave your comfort zone.

“Minds are like parachutes, they only function when they are open”

Number 5.

Communicate Well

  1. Whether its speaking to your boss, a client or even a new supplier - clear, professional communication is an essential skill to master, whether spoken, or written

You may just have to practice this to get the hang of it, and again don’t be afraid to learn from others.

  1. Having good communication skills will help get you far in life. Being able to communicate helps you make connections, diffuse conflicts, vocalize your viewpoints and understand what others have to say.

  1. Good Communication is as simple as this – listen to what you are being told, properly think about it, respond in an appropriate manner and time frame, be openminded to other people’s opinions, and never raise your voice or be rude.

I’ve learned that communication skills are essential for growing any business. In fact, they just might be the most important trait for you fast tracking your career.

If you’re a good verbal communicator, can speak well enough that people understand you and can interact with people in a positive forward thinking way, you will achieve.
